Makamu Rais Vance ahojiwa iwapo kukata msaada kwa Ukraine kunaipa nguvu Russia?
Baada ya mkutano wa Ijumaa iliyopita kati ya Rais Donald Trump na Rais wa Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskiy ambao uligeuka malumbano makali, na Rais Tump kusitisha kwa muda misaada ya kijeshi kwenda Ukraine, Makamu wa Rais wa Marekani JD Vance ameweka wazi msimamo wa Marekani kuhusu kumaliza vita vya miaka mitatu kati ya Russia na Ukraine.
Katika mahojiano na VOA, JD Vance aliulizwa ikiwa kusimamisha misaada kwa Ukraine kunaipa fursa nzuri Russia.
Vance amesema lengo la Rais Donald Trump kuhusu sera ya Marekani kwa Ukraine ni kuwaleta raia wa nchi hiyo kwenye meza ya mazungumzo.
Amesema wanataka Waukraine wawe na nchi inayojitawala na huru, akiongeza kuwa majeshi ya Ukraine yamepigana kwa ujasiri mkubwa, lakini wamefikia mahali ambako si Ulaya wala Marekani ambao wanaweza kuendeleza vita hivyo bila ya ukomo.
Ima kuhusu iwapo Marekani inaweza kufikia makubaliano ya madini na Ukraine wakati huu, Vance amesema ana imani makubaliano hayo yanaweza kufikiwa.
“Nafikiri Rais Trump bado ana azma ya kufikia makubaliano ya madini, na makubaliano hayo ni sehemu muhimu sana ya sera yake.”
Vance ameendelea kusisitiza kwamba wananchi wa Marekani wanastahili malipo kidogo ya uwekezaji mkubwa wa kifedha uliofanywa kwa Ukraine.
Kuhusu madai kwamba Marekani inaiwekea shinikizo kubwa Ukraine kuliko Russia na kwamba watu wanaweza kutarajia vikwazo zaidi vya Marekani dhidi ya Russia:
Makamu wa Rais Vance amesema halitakuwa jambo sahihi, akisema wanaamini msimamo wa Rais Trump ni kwa maslahi ya Russia, lakini pia kwa maslahi ya Ukraine na kwa maslahi mazuri ya Marekani kumaliza mgogoro huo.
