Communications Authority switches off KTN, NTV

A number of broadcast outlets had their signals switched off after defying a directive from the Communications Authority of Kenya to cease live coverage of ongoing protests across the country. In a statement issued this afternoon, the Authority had directed all media houses to immediately halt live transmission of the demonstrations, saying the transmissions were in contravention of the law. The Authority claimed the broadcasts could incite public disorder and undermine national security.
