Blood Parliament: MP say Kenya has “moved on” - BBC Africa
Members of parliament in Kenya have accused the BBC of trying to portray the country in negative light with its Africa Eye investigation into who killed anti-tax bill protesters last year. The documentary was raised in parliament as a matter of national interest, with some MPs saying that they had sympathised and already moved on from the killings. However human rights organisations say the film is an accurate representation of what happened and have called for action to be taken against the security personnel identified in the documentary.
The Kenya Defence Forces and the police told the BBC that they had not received any enquiries for an investigation into the killings. The police oversight authority says it has investigations ongoing.
Kenya's government spokesman - Isaac Mwaura- said "every life is important", the police watchdog is conducting an investigation and criticised the BBC documentary for being "one-sided".
